๐ŸŽฏ Directed Staking

Directed Staking lets jagSOL holders decide where part of JagPool's stake goes. You hold jagSOL, you point it at the validator you want to support, and the pool backs your choice with real SOL delegation โ€” at no cost and no risk to you.

โšก TL;DRโ€‹

  • If you stake with JagPool: point your jagSOL at your favorite validator. It costs nothing, changes nothing about your yield, and you can switch anytime.
  • If you run a validator: every jagSOL pointed at you attracts real stake from the pool's regional budget. The fewer validators participating, the bigger your share โ€” early movers get the best rates.

Each supported region (LATAM, APAC) has a stake budget reserved for community choices. Every epoch, that whole budget is delegated to the validators the community points at, in proportion to the jagSOL backing each one. That's the entire mechanism โ€” no formulas needed.

One consequence worth understanding: the budget is always fully used. So when few validators participate, each jagSOL pointed attracts a lot of stake. As more join, the same jagSOL attracts less. The current "matching rate" is always visible on jagpool.xyz/direct-stake.

๐Ÿ™‹ For stakersโ€‹

Three stepsโ€‹

  1. Hold jagSOL โ€” your voting weight equals your balance.
  2. Pick one validator on jagpool.xyz/direct-stake.
  3. Sign one message with your wallet โ€” a plain sentence, not a transaction.

What does not change for youโ€‹

  • Your SOL never moves. You keep holding jagSOL exactly as before; the pool redirects its own delegation.
  • Your yield is unchanged. Directing is not a trade-off โ€” it's free influence.
  • No lock, no fee. Sign again to switch validators anytime (one wallet backs one validator at a time).

When it takes effectโ€‹

Your directive activates at the next epoch (roughly 2โ€“3 days). From then on, your weight is your jagSOL balance, re-checked every epoch โ€” if you sell your jagSOL, your support fades with it.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ For validatorsโ€‹

How matching reaches youโ€‹

Get your community to hold jagSOL and point it at your validator. Every epoch, the regional budget is split among pointed validators by jagSOL weight โ€” your share of the community's conviction becomes your share of the budget.

Your recruiting pitch fits in one line: "Hold jagSOL, point it at us, and the pool matches it with real stake โ€” the earlier, the stronger."

Why early paysโ€‹

The whole budget is distributed no matter how many validators participate. Alone, you'd take all of it. Each newcomer re-splits the pie โ€” so the matching rate is at its maximum on day one and declines as adoption grows. Check the live rate per region on jagpool.xyz/direct-stake.

The anti-whale ruleโ€‹

There is a per-validator cap on the jagSOL that counts. Below the cap, every jagSOL pointed at you earns the full rate. Above it, extra jagSOL attracts nothing โ€” a large treasury can't buy a region's budget by piling onto one validator. Spreading support across several validators is the winning move, and that's by design: directed staking rewards genuine, distributed communities.

๐Ÿงฎ A simple exampleโ€‹

Say a region's budget is 100 SOL:

SituationCommunity weightStake received
Validator A alone2 jagSOL on AA: 100 SOL
Validator B joins2 on A ยท 2 on BA: 50 ยท B: 50
Weights differ3 on A ยท 1 on BA: 75 ยท B: 25

Notice what happened to A: from 100 to 75 to 50 SOL without its community changing anything. The budget is a shared pie โ€” growing your community's jagSOL is the only way to grow your slice.

โš–๏ธ The rules that keep it fairโ€‹

  • One wallet, one validator, full weight โ€” no splitting, no percentages, one clear choice.
  • Weight is a verified balance, snapshotted every epoch. Splitting funds across wallets gains nothing; selling your jagSOL removes your weight at the next snapshot.
  • A minimum jagSOL balance is required for a directive to count (anti-dust).
  • Per-region budgets and caps are set by governance and adjustable at any time โ€” regions can open, grow, or close without code changes.

โ“ FAQโ€‹

Does my SOL move when I direct? No. Your jagSOL stays in your wallet. The pool re-arranges its own delegation to honor your choice.

Can I split my weight between two validators? No โ€” by design. One wallet backs one validator with its full weight. Use a second wallet if you truly want to support two.

What happens if I sell my jagSOL? Your weight follows your balance: at the next epoch snapshot, your directive carries whatever you still hold.

What does it cost? Nothing. No transaction, no fee, no yield impact โ€” just a signed message.

Where do I see the current matching rate? On the Direct Stake page โ€” each open region shows its live rate, budget, and community demand.
